questionnaire for Township officials, Township Engineers, and the public
regarding stormwater regulations in their township.
Assistance to Communities – During

engines on the web, made changes to the new logs for the LWWMD letterhead and
emailed to Karen, received a call from Karen regarding the logo, made an
additional change to the logo, tested, and emailed logo back to Karen.

Water Quality Problem Area
Identification - During the month of
January 2003, F. X. Browne, Inc. made revisions to the ranking sheet based
on comments from the LWWMD Board. We re-ranked the projects based on the revised
ranking system.
Pellett Road – F. X. Browne, Inc. talked to Karen Mandeville
about this possible
BMP site. We obtained background information regarding a previous site visit and
design constraints, and we obtained a map of the site and faxed it to Karen.
Gumble Brothers Site - F.
X. Browne, Inc. met with Fred Schoenagle at his office to discuss this possible
BMP site. We obtained mapping from Fred, and we discussed constructed wetlands
and a bioretention system as options to promote infiltration and water quality
treatment of stormwater at this site. The Gumble Brothers are planning to
construct a detention basin for this project; therefore the money that they are
planning for this work will be used as match for this project. Our design will
enhance their detention basin plan to promote water quality treatment of the
stormwater runoff from their yard.
Keating Farm – F. X. Browne, Inc. visited the farm site to
evaluate the potential for BMP installation. We met Karen Mandeville at the
site, obtained background information from Karen, took pictures at the site,
logged pictures, contacted Ken Harvey (NRCS) to discuss the previous work on
this project, and we ranked the project using the revised ranking sheet.

PA1012-55 - LWWMD GROWING GREENER
PROJECT
During the month of January 2003, F. X.
Browne, Inc. evaluated optional locations for the monitoring station to be
located on the Main Branch Wallenpaupack Creek.
Justin Hoffmann conducted field investigations to evaluate alternative
sites. We then provided Karen Mandeville with information for determining the
property owner. This site is located just upstream of the Auther property. After
Karen determined the property owner, Justin Hoffmann called the property owner
and discussed the project in detail with him.
The property owner appears to be willing to allow access to his property
for the sampler. The site is located
near both electric and phone service
PA1012-56 2002 LAKE WALLENPAUPACK
WATER QUALITY MONITORING PROJECT
During the month of January 2003, F. X. Browne, Inc. continued work on
evaluating the 2002 data and began work on the 2002 Update Report.
PA1012-58
BMPs
During the month of January 2003, F. X. Browne, Inc. worked on the design of the
Krautter Farm BMP (Billing Group 002) and the Wallenpaupack Lake Estates swale
project (Billing Group 003). We conducted two telephone conversations with Ken
Harvey to obtain background information and survey information for the project.
We obtained design information from NRCS about the ag-waste facility design for
the project. We reviewed the background information and modified for
site-specific needs, and we began detailed design and drafting of the structural
plans of the ag-waste facility. Additionally, we began the design of details for
the pole structure.
We contacted John Carney to determine the status of the WLE swale project. We
obtained all background information form the previous work that has been
completed for this project, and we evaluated the drawings to determine if they
were bid-ready. We reviewed all previous calculations for quality control
purposes

2003 LAKE WALLENPAUPACK WATER QUALITY MONITORING PROJECT
F. X.
Browne, Inc. coordinated the January 2003 sampling event for Lake Wallenpaupack.
We collected surface, middle, and bottom water samples for chemical analysis at
Station #3 on January 23, 2003. Sampling was conducted through 8 inches of ice
on the lake. In addition, we collected samples for chlorophyll a analysis
phytoplankton and zooplankton analysis. We collected temperature and dissolved
oxygen profile data at Station #3.
We transported the samples to our laboratory in Marshalls Creek and analyzed the
samples for total phosphorus, dissolved
reactive phosphorus, total Kjeldahl nitrogen, nitrate/nitrite nitrogen, ammonia
nitrogen, total suspended solids, fecal coliform bacteria, fecal streptococci
bacteria, alkalinity (surface samples only), and pH. Attachment A contains a copy of the January 2003
water quality monitoring results.
