- LWWMD GROWING GREENER PROJECT
During
June and early July, 2005 we finalized the spreadsheets that included the water
quality data, stream level data, stream flow data, and rain data for the
project. We updated the project
spreadsheets and performed general data calculations.
F. X. Browne
, Inc. also began writing the final technical
report for the project as well as the brief summary report for Growing Greener.
Additionally,
we met with Andy Schweitzer, the DEP Growing Greener Representative for this
project, gave him a tour of the sampling stations, and requested additional
funds and a time extension to complete the project.
As requested by Andy, we prepared a time extension and request for
additional funds for Karen’s signature that was sent to the DEP.
At the end of July, we received notice from the DEP that the project
would be extended until December 300, 2005 and they would give the District an
additional $12,000 to complete the project.
We
inventoried all of the stations, prepared a list of required repairs and
replacement parts that would be needed to get the samplers up and running,
returned several parts to ISCO to determine if they could be repaired or needed
to be replaced, discussed potential repairs and replacements with ISCO, and
placed an order for needed parts. We
received the parts and are planning to install the new parts and get the
samplers back online within the next two weeks.

LAKE
WALLENPAUPACK
WATER QUALITY MONITORING PROJECT
F. X. Browne
, Inc. coordinated the June and July 2005
sampling events for
Lake
Wallenpaupack
. On
June 1, 2005
and
July 5, 2005
, we collected surface, middle, and bottom water samples for chemical
analysis at Station #3, and on
June 15, 2005
and
July 20, 2005
, we collected surface, middle, and bottom water
samples for chemical analysis at Stations #1, #3, and #5.
In addition, on each sampling date we collected photic zone composite
samples for chlorophyll a and phytoplankton analyses.
We also collected temperature and dissolved oxygen profile data at 1
meter intervals from the surface to the bottom.
We then transported all samples to our laboratory in Marshalls Creek and
analyzed them for total phosphorus, dissolved reactive phosphorus, total
Kjeldahl nitrogen, nitrate/nitrite nitrogen, ammonia nitrogen, total suspended
solids, alkalinity (surface samples only), and pH.
A
summary of the water quality data for June and July 2005 is provided in Appendix
