PA1012-55 - LWWMD GROWING GREENER PROJECT
During June 2004, F. X. Browne, Inc. continued
with basic maintenance, including battery charging, rain gage clean-out, etc.
The Main Branch station went down in June, and the Process Control Board was
sent back to ISCO for repair. The unit was repaired by ISCO, free of charge,
sent back to our office, and reinstalled in the station. The unit is now
operational.
Data from all stations were downloaded weekly.
Upon download, the data entered into their respective databases created by the
Flowlink 4.15 software. All data were analyzed immediately upon download to
ensure that the stations were working properly.
We have completed the development of the rating
curves for each of the six stations and plan to program all of the samplers by
the end of next week. The stations will then be ready to collect stormwater
samples.
On June 7, 2004, dry weather stream samples were
collected at the six stream stations and each sample was analyzed for pH,
alkalinity, specific conductance, total phosphorus, dissolved reactive
phosphorus, total Kjeldahl nitrogen, ammonia nitrogen, nitrate-nitrite nitrogen,
and total suspended solids. All data were entered into an excel spreadsheet and
reviewed for quality control purposes.

QUALITY MONITORING PROJECT
F. X. Browne, Inc. coordinated the June and July
2004 sampling events for Lake Wallenpaupack. On June 7, 2004 and July 7, 2004
we collected surface, middle, and bottom water samples for chemical analysis at
Station #3. On June 21, 2004 we collected surface, middle, and bottom water
samples for chemical analysis at Stations #1, #3, and #5. In addition, we
collected photic zone composite samples for chlorophyll a and
phytoplankton analyses at all stations on all dates. We also collected
temperature and dissolved oxygen profile data at 1-meter intervals from the
surface to the bottom. We transported all samples to our laboratory in Marshalls
Creek and analyzed them for total phosphorus, dissolved reactive phosphorus,
total Kjeldahl nitrogen, nitrate/nitrite nitrogen, ammonia nitrogen, total
suspended solids, fecal coliform bacteria, fecal streptococci bacteria,
alkalinity (surface samples only), and pH.
A summary of the June and July 2004 water
quality data is provided in Appendix A.
