PA1012-55 - LWWMD GROWING GREENER PROJECT
During November, we continued with basic maintenance, including battery charging, rain gage clean-out, etc. The batteries were changed-out at all stations and double batteries were connected in series to better power the stations during the winter season. Additionally, we worked closely with Karen and ISCO on the necessary insurance claim descriptions and parts replacement and repair. We also restored the phone line connection at the Main Stem station which was temporarily lost due to fallen tree limbs. Baseflow samples were also collected at all stations, and were immediately analyzed for all prescribed water quality parameters.
During December, we reinstalled the new probes and flow modules at the Main Stem and West Branch stations. Both stations were returned to normal operating condition, and all stations were programmed and set to resume collection of stormflow composite samples. Baseflow samples were also collected at all stations, and were immediately analyzed for all prescribed water quality parameters.
Data from all stations were downloaded weekly (at a minimum). Upon download, the data were entered into their respective databases created by the Flowlink 4.15 software. All data were analyzed immediately upon download to ensure that the stations were working properly. Lastly, the numerous database files created for the Purdy Creek station as a result of the past modem problems were all merged to form a single database file for that station.

F. X. Browne, Inc. coordinated the November and December 2004 sampling events for Lake Wallenpaupack. On November 10, 2004 and December 6, 2004, we collected surface, middle, and bottom water samples for chemical analysis at Station #3. In addition, we collected photic zone composite samples for chlorophyll a and phytoplankton analyses. We also collected temperature and dissolved oxygen profile data at 1 meter intervals from the surface to the bottom. We then transported all samples to our laboratory in Marshalls Creek and analyzed them for total phosphorus, dissolved reactive phosphorus, total Kjeldahl nitrogen, nitrate/nitrite nitrogen, ammonia nitrogen, total suspended solids, fecal coliform bacteria, fecal streptococci bacteria, alkalinity (surface samples only), and pH.
