PA1012-55 - LWWMD GROWING GREENER PROJECT
During January and February, F. X. Browne, Inc. continued with basic maintenance, including battery charging, rain gage clean-out, etc. As a result of extremely cold temperatures, it was necessary to change out the batteries on several of the stations on several occasions and to restart and reprogram the samplers. The ability to download data using the modem connection has prevented excessive loss of data. Data that were lost are easily interpolated between shutdown and restart.
Data from all stations were downloaded weekly (at a minimum, with more frequent downloads occurring during the coldest weather in an effort not to lose data). Upon download, the data entered into their respective databases created by the Flowlink 4.15 software. All data were analyzed immediately upon download to ensure that the stations were working properly.
Billing Group 002 - Krautter Farm - On January 2, 2004, F. X. Browne, Inc. conducted a site visit to the Krautter Farm to inspect the building progress and inspect site conditions discussed on 12/29/03 with Mr. Krautter. During the week of January 4th, F. X. Browne, Inc. conducted a site inspection as well as organized inspection photos and made several phone calls to Karen Mandeville and Mr. Krautter. On January 14th, F. X. Browne, Inc. met with Carroll Krautter again at the farm to investigate and document icing problems that Carroll Krautter was having at the rear of the building and to discuss general progress and the completion schedule for the project.

PA1012-60 2003 LAKE WALLENPAUPACK WATER QUALITY MONITORING PROJECT
During January 2004, F. X. Browne, Inc. completed all final data entry and statistical analyses for the 2003 lake monitoring program. PPL was contacted to obtain the lake elevation and annual rainfall data, which were added to the project database. We are currently working on completing the final report and we will present the report at the March 2004 board meeting.
During the month of January 2004, F. X. Browne, Inc. prepared for and attended the January 2004 LWWMD Board Meeting, discussed various project related topics with Karen Mandeville by telephone, and provided Karen Mandeville with comments on the Boating Grant application that she prepared.
F. X. Browne, Inc. coordinated the January 2004 sampling event for Lake Wallenpaupack. On January 7, we collected surface, middle, and bottom water samples for chemical analysis at Station #3. In addition, we collected photic zone composite samples for chlorophyll a and phytoplankton analyses. We also collected temperature and dissolved oxygen profile data at 1 meter intervals from the surface to the bottom. The water column was completely mixed, as evidenced by the thermal and dissolved oxygen profiles. We then transported all samples to our laboratory in Marshalls Creek and analyzed them for total phosphorus, dissolved reactive phosphorus, total Kjeldahl nitrogen, nitrate/nitrite nitrogen, ammonia nitrogen, total suspended solids, fecal coliform bacteria, fecal streptococci bacteria, alkalinity (surface samples only), and pH.
A summary of the January 2004 and February 2004 (to date) water quality data is provided in Appendix A.
