Water Quality Modeling
Water quality and watershed modeling is an integral part of many of our watershed and water quality studies. The use of state-of-the-art models allows us to use synthesize water quality and watershed data, quantify subwatershed pollutant loads, predict the intensity and duration of impairments to our client’s water resources, and compute pollutant load reductions required to achieve our client’s water quality objectives. We also employ build-out analysis modeling to predict the effect of future development on water quality for urbanizing watersheds.
We also use predictive models to evaluate the efficacy of a various combinations of management and restoration approaches and target areas. This approach allows us to optimize the use of resources to meet management goals.
Our experienced watershed scientists use a variety of watershed, hydrologic, and water quality models including SWMM, HPSF, WASP, QUAL2E, BATHTUB, AGNPS, TR-55, HEC-HMS,GWLF, and the Penn State Runoff Model (PSRM).
Water Quality Monitoring
Good data is the basis of good science. That’s why F. X. Browne, Inc. is dedicated to providing our clients a full suite of chemical and biological water quality monitoring services. In fact, water quality monitoring is an integral part of most of our watershed projects, providing critical information concerning impairments and trends in resource quality. Our monitoring services range from supervising and training volunteers to conduct basic lake quality monitoring programs to installing and managing large networks of automated samplers to track trends in water quality throughout complex watersheds.
We work with our clients to develop and implement scientifically-rigorous monitoring programs that address a variety of water resources management objectives including baseline water quality monitoring, long-term water quality monitoring, dry and wet weather monitoring, first flush monitoring, single storm event monitoring, stormwater BMP system performance monitoring, septic system pollution monitoring, and illicit discharge monitoring.
From data collection to laboratory analysis to data analysis and reporting,
F. X. Browne, Inc. can provide a complete monitoring solution for almost any objective. Our capabilities include an in-house, EPA-certified water quality laboratory, the full range of lake and stream chemical and biological sampling equipment, and a fully-capable macroinvertebrate identification laboratory. Our state-of-the-art data management and analysis capabilities include secure MS Access database management, high-end statistical analysis, web-based client access, and spatial data analysis and presentation using GIS.
