National CREP Forum 2004

 

The 2004 Conservation Reserve Enhancement Program (CREP) Forum is set for June 21-24 at the Hershey Lodge and Convention Center in Hershey, Pennsylvania. Titled “CREP – Solving Multiple Resource Issues Today and Tomorrow,” the annual forum is an opportunity for people who work with CREP across the country to share information on their Conservation Reserve Enhancement Programs. Major sessions will include a national perspective on CREP, an “Ask Washington” session, focus on regional impacts of the 2002 Farm Bill, a look toward the next Farm Bill and perspectives from participants and partners. Concurrent sessions will focuses on regional applications, outreach strategies and local partnerships, challenges to CREP, water quality and wildlife habitat benefits and monitoring issues. Also included will be a farm tour in the Pine Creek Watershed of Schuylkill County, with visits to four CREP projects, including a farm operated by Amish farmers. Other attractions will include guided river trips on the Susquehanna River, tours of Hershey Park and Amish farm tours. Registration and room reservation deadlines are May 6, 2004.
