F. X. Browne, Inc., in conjunction with several Orange County, NY organizations, is presenting a Low Impact Development and Stormwater Management seminar on March 16th, 2004. A full-day seminar will be held at the Orange County Fire Training Center in New Hampton, NY, and an evening seminar will be held at the Goshen Town Hall in Goshen, NY on that date. The full-day technical seminar is intended for natural resources professionals involved in the management of water resources, and includes an overview of the impacts of stormwater runoff on water quality and a summary of the new NPDES Phase II regulations, as well as new low-impact development concepts and conservation site design techniques that provide practical information concerning meeting ordinance requirements, obtaining township approvals, reducing impervious surfaces, maximizing open space, protecting natural features and enhancing groundwater recharge. The evening seminar is designed for municipal officials, private citizens, members of watershed groups, and other stakeholders who wish to familiarize themselves with techniques, principles, and applications of stormwater management and low impact development. This non-technical seminar will provide a brief overview of recent changes to state and federal stormwater regulations and will discuss several of the new and emerging technologies for treating stormwater to protect water quality.
