Bay National Estuary Program Public Participation And Education
Minigrants
The
Barnegat Bay National Estuary Program (BBNEP) is offering public
participation and education minigrants for the year 2004. The BBEP
Minigrants are available for projects that focus on major
environmental problems facing the Barnegat and Little Egg Harbor
Bays, including multiple users' needs and ecosystem health and
sustainability. Applicants are invited to submit proposals in the
following subject areas: Non-point source pollution prevention,
water quality control, estuarine education, phase II municipal
stormwater management, citizen monitoring and public
participation. Projects must utilize innovative activities which
involve people and lead to local action in the Barnegat Bay
Watershed. Requests should range from $500 to $7,500 and must
include matching funds or in-kind services. The Minigrant
application is open to nonprofit organizations, local governments
or commissions, private businesses, professional organizations and
teachers. Application deadline is January 23, 2004. For
