PA Watershed Academy
The PA Statewide 402 Watershed Academy will be held on April 21 and 22 at the Ramada-State College. The PA DEP developed the Watershed Academies in order to present a technical overview of the processes involved in watershed management and protection of water resources. The 400 series is technical in nature and targets conservation district specialists and DEP watershed managers. It is normally offered once a year, as needed. This Academy combines classroom training with biodiversity field training. The curriculum for the 2004 402 Academy includes: assisting watershed associations in leadership and recruitment, watershed protection best management practices, biodiversity, air quality issues, strategic planning and grant writing, and NPDES Phase II requirements. Jason Smith of F. X. Browne, Inc. will be speaking about outreach to local governments through EAC (Environmental Advisory Council) formation.
