Dam Design and Dredging Plan F. X. Browne, Inc. designed a small gravity concrete dam to replace an existing earthen dam for the Shawnee Mountain Ski Area. As part of this design, we modeled the watershed to the Shawnee Mountain Ski Area snowmaking pond to determine peak surface runoff flows for the dam’s required spillway design storm. F. X. Browne, Inc. also determined the base flow through the pond and peak flows from smaller runoff events to design soil erosion and sediment control measures during construction, stormwater management during the dam reconstruction and dredging work, and to size a low flow outlet for the dam to maintain the required minimum downstream discharge. |
