Retrofitting Stormwater Basins

Existing Detention Basin

During the construction of the Woodloch Springs Golf Course and Community, an extensive network of 16 retention basins and 4 wet ponds was installed to provide volume and peak flow control. An evaluation  of the current stormwater system found that the basins were operating well and that minimal erosion was occurring at the basin outfalls or within the rock lined stormwater conveyance channels.
The basins were originally designed to maintain the pre-development peak runoff flows.  However, they were not designed to provide water quality benefits.  The basins were retrofitted to provide water quality benefits.  This was accomplished by modifying the outlet structures to increase the detention time of stormwater runoff in the basins.
